MY FAVOURITE PRINTING BUSINESSES
001. Today I am writing a blog post to share my favourite ‘tried and trusted printers.’ I try to work with Australian businesses, never printing or ordering offshore. I also aim to work with local businesses to my area or ones that share an eco friendly philosophy in their ethics. I’ve been printing things with these two business for a while, and I am always impressed with the quality, pricing and customer service. I thought it would be helpful to share this as a resource, because sometimes trusting a printer via the internet and building a relationship you rely on can be a challenging process.
002. Print Together - This printing business is based in Melbourne, Victoria. It is one of my favourites because of their use of recycled paper options and eco friendly inks in their printing process. The Print Together website is also incredibly user friendly. For the ordering process I like that users make an account, upload the art, which then is approved for the printing process. If there is any issues with the print, it won’t be approved and they will reach out with an email to say what needs to be adjusted. I really love this because A) sometimes I do make little mistakes in files, and it’s nice to for them to be fixed before just getting printed automatically and looking bad, and B) its nice to know you’re dealing with humans who know what they are doing, not a printing robot. Print Together is my go-to site for any thank-you cards, bulk digital printing designs, flyers, simple photo books etc. They have so many options on their website and it’s so simple to see quotes/prices for designs. If you run a small business, I think it’s really worth checking out for printing needs.
003. Few and Far Studio - These guys are a Brisbane based printing shop. They are my absolute go-to’s for fine art giclée prints and really high quality prints. If any of my artist friends ask where to get printing done, I would send them here! The quality is always impeccable and their service is great. Like I can’t describe the excitement I get when I have a finished artwork, and order the print with these guys and it comes in the mail. It’s just the best! I have only had digital designs printed so far, but I know they work with a lot of artists with original works, so photo files work too. The website isn’t quite as fancy as Print Together, and you may need to email your files to them (I always have to because they are large). But they have great communication and customer service via email, so this has never been an issue for me. I cannot recommend them enough if you are an artist looking for high quality prints, attention to detail, and delicious paper texture.
004. I’ve been meaning to share this as a resource on the journal, as I am now offering digital poster prints on Shop Frockled. I love the concept of digital downloads - I am a digital illustrator and a graphic designer - who is a little nomadic at times and doesn’t really keep up with the demands of inventory too well. I also love that they can be accessible to anyone, anywhere, and there is no chance of it going missing in the post on my watch. However, I also ADORE paper printed products. I love the smell… the texture… walls filled with framed art and books on shelves make my soul happy. So, as part of the PDF file that is included with the Shop Frockled digital downloads, there is a file with ‘printers specifications.’ This is the PDF file that is designed for professional printer specifications, such as those in this post, so anyone who purchases the digital file can get it printed at a high-quality place if they would like.
005. Goodluck and happy printing!
